Philips Hue is getting new outdoor options to light up your garden

Back in January, Philips Hue announced it was working on outdoor smart lights ideally suited for patios, gardens, or balconies. Just as with indoor Philips Hue lights, you can control your outdoor lighting in any way you wish, with the Philips Hue app or with your voice to create the flawless ambiance in any outside space. There's also the Hue Calla, which seems to function as lighting that's more general goal.

Next up, and pictured below, is the Philips Hue Calla (640 lumens, like the Lily), which is a path lighting option that will cost $129.99.

Both white-only and color-changing models will be available. Because they're part of the colour ambiance range, you can use the Philips Hue app to choose from 16 million different colours and dim them to a specific level. This new outdoor range will also support Hue's Home and Away feature, and with location awareness, you can even have them turn on when you arrive home at the end of the day. Global Positioning System smarts also mean that you'll be able to set your outdoor lights to automatically come on as you approach your home.

Philips says the Lily spotlight can be used to "highlight the key design features in your garden, illuminating handsome flower beds, or potted plants", whereas the Calla bollard is ideal for "path lighting and can also be used to enhance your outdoor space".

All Philips Hue outdoor products are weather resistant, and according to Philips, are easy to install.

You can get the bulbs starting in July throughout the United States and Europe. The Philips Hue white range offers a number of products matching the decor of your house. Philip's Lucca, Tuar, Turaco, and Ludere lights will start at $49.99 and will only be available in the United States (at least at first). Media and bloggers are invited to join the Philips Lighting press conference, on Monday, March 19, at 1.00pm at the Philips Lighting booth.
