Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.

A couple of Mid March snow chances are coming your way, starting with today. Northern parts of the Jersey Shore could see 3 inches of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 34. West winds will be 5 to 10 miles per hour. Skies are partly cloudy Saturday, and we're watching for a few showers.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 42. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a low around 26, and wind chill temperatures of 20 to 25 miles per hour. Friday night will be mostly clear with lows in the mid-40s. While no significant accumulation is expected and we should manage at least some sunshine each day, high temperatures won't do much better than 40 degrees each afternoon from Tuesday through Thursday, and west to northwest winds will remain persistently brisk around 10 to 30 miles per hour with higher gusts. In the higher elevations in SW Virginia and along the TN/NC mountains this turnover from rain to snow will occur earlier, with this transition taking longer in the Tri-Cities if it occurs at all. The chance of rain is 90 percent.

After a chilly, but rather sunny weekend, the clouds increased throughout the day on Monday as a coastal low off the Carolina coast began its trek northeast.

Sunday - Partly sunny, with a high near 52. Cloudy, with a high near 51. Lows will be in the mid-50s with southeast winds 5 to 10 miles per hour. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday night, there will be a 70 percent chance of showers, then showers will be likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The chance for showers will last into Saturday, but mostly in the mountains. This precipitation will continue at times overnight as the coastal low begins to rapidly strengthen all the while moving northeast well off the East Coast.

Partly sunny, with a high near 84.
