UEFA drops Michy Batshuayi racist abuse claim probe

The forward, who is now on loan at Borussia Dortmund, claimed he was subjected to racist abuse during a Europa League tie against Italian side Atalanta last month.

Batshuayi reacted angrily following news of UEFA dropping the charges emerging. Must be my imagination", followed by "It's just monkey noise who cares?

They did however find both Atalanta and Borussia Dortmund guilty of setting off fireworks and throwing objects for which the clubs have been fined.

The forward took to social media after the Europa League game at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio-Emilia, claiming he had been the subject of racist 'monkey noises'.

UEFA said its disciplinary board had chose to "close the disciplinary proceedings opened for racist or discriminatory behaviour" but did not give further details.

Atalanta were fined €40,000 in 2014 after bananas were thrown at AC Milan players during a league game.

He was then racially abused by Twitter users.

A further message from the Belgium global said: "Its just monkey noise who cares?"

Atalanta fans had been accused of making monkey chants during the 1-1 draw on February 22.
