Westminster evacuation as police descend on Parliament offices

Officers from London's Metropolitan Police were called to the same area on Monday afternoon following reports of two suspicious packages, which were later deemed non-harmful.

Police in London say two people have been taken to hospital as a precaution after a suspicious package was found at Britain's Parliament complex.

Police are investigating another suspicious package sent to MPs' offices in Westminster, the fourth in recent days.

Guido Fawkes report Rupa Huq's MP office and other adjacent offices are being evacuated. Two people - a man and a woman - were taken to hospital as a precaution, according to Reuters. "We can not provide any more details at this stage", a parliamentary spokesperson said.

"The affected area was temporarily cordoned off but no evacuation was necessary", the police added.

"This is further to the two items investigated yesterday, both of which were found to be non-harmful".

Last month, police investigated white powder sent to an office in parliament, which was later found to be harmless.

According to ITV, the package was sent to the office of Bedford Labour MP Mohammad Yasin. "The police are investigating the content of the letters to identify any potential link".

The Met Police said they were called to Westminster just before 10am this morning to reports of another "suspicious package" in the same building as yesterday, Norman Shaw North.
