Yakuza: Kiwami 2: PS4 Exclusive Gets a Western Release Date

Dragons Belong on the Dragon Engine - Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a re-creation of the original Yakuza 2, completely rebuilt in the Dragon Engine, the same engine used in developing Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.

Sega announced that the Yakuza Team is now hard at work on another Yakuza title, this time a complete remake of the second game.

Sega has announced that it is bringing Yakuza: Kiwami 2 to the west (North America and Europe), exclusively for the PlayStation 4. The Dragon Engine itself ensures that load times are limited, and there are nearly no transition periods between entering buildings and getting into combat. The game will also launch digitally at the same price along with the retail release.

Much like Kiwami, Kiwami 2 offers a new playable story based on "Mad Dog of Shimano" Goro Majima, which sees him forming his own company, Majima Construction, as well as encountering his crush Makoto Makimura from Yakuza 0. The game came out past year in December in Japan, but it was easy to miss given that there were a lot of big games coming out at the time in November and December. The Yakuza series was so unpopular at one point that it seemed like the later titles wouldn't even receive localizations in the West. There, you can experience the story through a 10-part interactive digital comic series as well as comprehensive character maps and timelines. Fate, however, has other things in mind for the legendary Dragon of Dojima, and Kiryu finds himself back on the front lines of a potential all-out war. It takes place in a fictionalized version of Kabukichō called Kamurocho, as well as two fictional districts of Osaka. Now, with this upcoming full-fledged remake for the PS4, we will once again roam the streets of Kamurocho when Yakuza Kiwami 2 comes to our shores on August 28th. I speak Chinese and Minnesotan.
