Arsenal, Manchester City eye move for Andres Iniesta

Arsenal, Manchester City eye move for Andres Iniesta

"For us, he wasn't just a player, he was the player". With it looking increasingly likely that Iniesta's near-flawless 22-year stint at the Camp Nou will be coming to an end in the next month or so, France Football have moved to atone for their lamentable oversight.

"He is the best facilitator of play of all time", said Ferre.

While his goal and assists return doesn't rival the likes of Messi or Ronaldo, Iniesta's ability to control a game and bring the best out of his team-mates is nearly unrivalled in world football.

France Football have now issued an apology, looking back on Iniesta's career and his honours, both with club and country.

So, to recap: Guardiola is persuading Iniesta, but then it's only a "could" that Manchester City would make an approach, Arsenal "will tempt him" but then that's totally dependent on them taking on Enrique, and AS guessing his intentions right.

"Iniesta's talent is to invent for others" he added. "Without him, Messi would have exhausted much faster at Barça (.) His talent is making it work for others".

Iniesta was one of the favourites to win the award in 2010 after winning the FIFA World Cup with Spain and scoring the only goal in the final, but he finished runner-up to Messi.

"His sacrifices for the team ultimately deprived him of greater individual recognition". But Pep Guardiola is reportedly trying to convince the Spaniard to join him at Manchester City.

Iniesta, who has been one of the most consistent performers in recent years, was close to winning the Ballon d'Or on two occasions, being beaten by Lionel Messi in 2010.

A sentiment that is surely felt by managers across Europe.
