Bryce Harper Hits Broken Bat Home Run In Citi Field

Bryce Harper Hits Broken Bat Home Run In Citi Field

These days, there's absolutely nothing about Bryce Harper's swing that's broken.

Harper entered Monday night's contest against the New York Mets with a.300/.479/.740 line with an MLB-leading seven home runs, 20 walks (against only 11 strikeouts) and an OPS of 1.219. However, the Nats would fall behind 6-1 before scoring seven unanswered runs in the eighth and ninth innings to come back and beat division-leading NY, 8-6. Harper still hit the ball out. Jacob deGrom tried to jam him inside and was able to break Harper's bat around the handle, but Harper still got enough of the pitch to send it into the bullpen for a dinger.

It was Harper's eighth home run of the season and made it an early 1-0 Nationals lead. The feat amazed observers, including the Nats' announcing team, and caused an understandable commotion on the Internet.

The homer was Harper's eighth of the season, and it increased his Major League Baseball lead in that category.

Through 17 games, Washington Nationals superstar Bryce Harper has eight home runs.
