Buhari's Gaddafi Comment: You Can't Gag Nigerians, PDP Replies Presidency

Buhari said that past leaders have wrecked the economy of the country, but that his government was doing all in its power to find solutions to the problem of the country.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has expressed confidence in the ability of President Muhammadu Buhari to come out victorious in 2019, saying that the real voters are behind him.

President Buhari with L-R: Mr Illiyasu Garba, Mr Bolaji Lewis, Chief of Staff to President Abba Kyari, Project Coordinator Charles Sylvester, Mr Dapo Williams, Hajia Lamisila and Mr Stephen Kifordu as he receives in audience Buhari Diaspora Support Organization in London on April 15, 2018.

"Failure of some of the leadership we had in the past led to our not being able to capitalise on resources to improve the lot of the people, " the President said.

"You could nearly grow food on our roads, as they were abandoned".

"Since Monday, President Buhari has been holidaying in London and has been unable to discharge the functions of his Office, in total disregard to the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution, disdain to Nigerians and flagrant abuse of his presidential office".

"If the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government knew all these while that the marauders and insurgents are invaders, then why is it engaging them in dialogue, reportedly paying ransoms and even considering the amnesty option for them.

He specially appreciated members of the Buhari Diaspora Support Organisation for deciding to identify with the country when they could have stayed overseas where they are comfortable.

The coordinator of the group said members were happy with the achievements of the Buhari administration so far, noting that "you met a hard situation, but you overcome most of them".

The president said he believes his administration has done relatively well especially in light of the state in which the country was when he took over power.

Sylvester also commended the efforts of the government in the war against insurgency in the North East, as well as his declaration to seek re-election in 2019.

"I am happy that people like you are here, on your own, defending the country". It shows you as a worthy general.

The PDP said it "being the party rallying the overwhelming majority of Nigerians today", has a responsibility to stand with the citizens, irrespective of class, creed or ethnicity to hold this failed APC administration accountable for its promises and will continue to put it out glaringly to them ahead of their electoral disgrace in 2019.

"We declare our love and support for you".
