Canadian Brooke Henderson takes lead at Lotte Championship

Canada's Brooke Henderson has overcome rain squalls and gusty wins to claim a four-shot victory in the Lotte Championship in Hawaii.

Henderson, who hails from Smith Falls, Ont., shot a 6-under 66 in 15 miles per hour morning wind at Ko Olina Golf Club to get to 10 under.

The 20-year-old from Smiths Falls, Ont., was 12-under through the tournament to win by four strokes over Spain's Azahara Munoz.

After a first-up round of 76, the 20-year-old was firmly on the back foot at the Ko Olina Golf Club and after a 71 and a 70 she then entered Sunday's (NZ time) final round 10 shots off the pace of Canadian leader Brooke Henderson, in a tie for 32nd.

No one could catch the five-time LPGA Tour victor as the wind gusted to 20 miles per hour later in the day.

Henderson finished the day at nine under par, one shot clear of American Mo Martin, who shot a 72, and two shots ahead of Japan's Nasa Hataoka and South Korean Inbee Park in third place. Lindy Duncan also was 6 under after a 68. She played with Hawaii-native Michelle Wie, who double-bogeyed her 15th hole to finish at even par 72. Lindberg, victor of this month's ANA Inspiration, shot a 73, leaving her four off the front. Defending champion Cristie Kerr also shot 73 and was another shot back.
