Capcom Releases Reigns on a New Monster

Capcom Releases Reigns on a New Monster

The beast will only be around for a limited time as part of a new Siege quest type, and it's going to require a team effort to take it down.

The Kulve Taroth is coming to Monster Hunter: World.

World's Spring Blossom Fest in full swing, Capcom has announced a new assignment titled the Siege of Kulve Taroth.

Monster Hunter: World is getting a new limited-time quest called Siege of Kulve Taroth that will send all hunters in the same Gathering Hub-up to 16 in total-on a raid-flavored quest to track down a mighty new Elder Dragon named Kulve Taroth. All teams will work together to investigate and hunt down the same Kulve Taroth.

As you attack the Kulve Taroth, you'll dismantle portions of its armor. You can join up within an online session or a dedicated Kulve Taroth lobby.

The player goal with the Siege is to repel the Elder Dragon, and its "shimmering golden mantle happens to be a collection of shiny weapon relics". Since the Kulve Taroth is exceptionally very big, players will apparently have to rely on cannons, makeshift avalanches, and other forms of heavy artillery to damage the creature. The type and stats of these weapons "are entirely up to fate", so expect something interesting at least. Hit up the Smithy once you've gathered ample materials from the Elder Dragon, and he'll even knock you up a new armour set to complement the Kulve Taroth weapons.

While the trailer states the Kulve Taroth update will be available April 19th, it will actually be ready April 18th at 5pm PT. (If you miss it, Capcom notes the event will return.) This also marks the debut appearance of the siege quest. The release will also bring a free title update for Monster Hunter: World. In addition, players will gain access to two new armor sets, with a third available for Palicos.
