Donovan Mitchell brushes off injury scare: 'I was just being a baby'

The Utah Jazz guard is set to play in Game 2 on Wednesday after the MRI on his left foot came back negative, league sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes.

The Rookie of the Year candidate left the game in the fourth quarter to get an X-ray on his foot, only to fight through the pain and return to the court with 7:47 remaining. It doesn't look like Mitchell will be hampered by the injury in any way on Wednesday, so expect him to be a full go. But even after the game, Mitchell would downplay his foot injury. He later returned to finish the 116-108 loss with a team-high 27 points.

Selected with the No. 13 overall pick in June's draft, Mitchell has broken out as a Rookie of the Year contender. Not only that, but he's the first player since LeBron James to post 25 points and 10 rebounds in a playoff debut.

"I just stubbed my toe", Mitchell said post-game. Utah's scoring is already not a strong suit, and Mitchell is often the engine that keeps its offense afloat.
