Ed Sheeran in talks for Danny Boyle's latest

Ed Sheeran could be appearing in an upcoming Beatles-inspired musical comedy by Danny Boyle.

Sheeran has made a handful of forays into acting, perhaps most notably through a cameo appearance on Game of Thrones that ended up being one of the more widely derided moments in a mostly well-regarded season.

The British superstar musician, Ed Sheeran, is now said by a British tabloid to be in talks to star in Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis's upcoming untitled musical comedy.

The film's plot is described as being "about a man who wakes up one day to find he is the only person who can remember the songs of The Beatles". A source close to Working Title, the studio that is making the film, ... He is the biggest hit-maker on the planet. Slumdog Millionaire moviemaker Boyle will direct the project from a script penned by Richard Curtis. What we do know is that Lily James (Baby Driver) and Himesh Patel (Eastenders) will star in it, with SNL actress Kate McKinnon in discussions for it.

Sheeran is a known fan of The Beatles, having once performed an acoustic cover of "In My Life" in front of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr (see footage of that below). "If anyone can make a film about the Beatles songs even better musically, it's him'". There is now no other major release scheduled for that date, although it will be competing against the second week of IT: Chapter Two, which opens September 6, 2019.
