Enid school board to meet Thursday

The finalists for Nelson County Schools superintendent are Hamby, superintendent of Trigg County Schools; Wes Bradley, principal of Thomas Nelson High School, and Chuck Abell, assistant superintendent of Spencer County Schools.

According to Huntsville City school board members, Akin contacted them to say he has received an offer from Gulf Shores, 'pending contract negotiations.' The board voted 5-0 in favor of Akin and no one was able to present any concerns in extending the offer said Kevin Corcoran, President of the Gulf Shores board of education.

Lind has served as the district's superintendent for six years, and he has been in education for 31 years. Previously, he was the Junior High Principal at Jonathan Alder and Middle School Principal for Canaan Middle School in Plain City. While serving at Canaan, Piper also held the role of district transportation director.

Piper, his wife, Nichole, and their two children reside in Marysville, Ohio, but look forward to becoming part of the Troy community as soon as possible.

Polunci said the district has a very transient population and enrollment could fluctuate by 50 to 60 students throughout the course of the year.

Obeng issued a statement following release of the report, saying he was pleased the new board is ready to move forward and tackle challenges, such as settling a new contract for paraeducators and closing of the achievement gap. "I'm excited about what lies ahead". He said he is pursuing other work opportunities outside of K-12 education. She explained that the district could easily find itself in a position where it would need to undertake another project in less than ten years if they limit the scope of the project that they are planning too much.

The board reviewed the credentials of 16 applicants, narrowing down a list of eight semi-finalists, who were interviewed March 19-20. He submitted a notice of his retirement to the board on April 10 but did not list a reason for his departure.
