Flash flood warning extended on Kauai

Flash flood warning extended on Kauai

The NWS expects one to two inches of rainfall with the heaviest rain expected Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland issued a flood advisory for Geauga, Lake and Portage counties until 1:30 a.m. Monday.

A Freezing Rain warning has been placed throughout much of the area, with Environment Canada projecting ice build-up of 10 to 20 millimeters across the region by Sunday morning, with some areas possibly receiving more than 20 millimeters of freezing rain. Forecasters warned that risky flash flooding is still possible.

The flash flood watch remains in effect through 4 a.m. Monday.

A flash flood watch means that conditions are present that could lead to flash flooding.

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority also warns of localized flooding, and has issued a flood outlook. Move to higher ground now. With heavy rain, rivers can exceed their banks and ponding can occur on the roads.

Drivers who fail to obey road closures, traffic signs and speed restrictions amid the hazardous conditions could face increased fines - especially if emergency responders are called in to help, the governor's office said.
