Fleetwood Mac classic re-enters Billboard charts thanks to meme

Of course, diehard Fleetwood Mac fans may get even more meaning out of the marching band reference.

Earlier this year, Fleetwood Mac icon Stevie Nicks shared her views on sexual harassment and equality within the music industry. "Fleetwood Mac's music is so boring, you can't even dance to it", the caption reads, accompanied by the counter argument, "Me, an intellectual".

Included was a video that showed the Golden Girls dance team from Alcorn State University showing off their moves to the song. It then points to the video in an attempt to disapprove that quote.

1 hit "Dreams" is set to hit No. 16 on the Hot Rock list this week, according to Billboard.

With over 131,000 retweets and 311,000 likes to date, it's safe to say the world agreed.


The surprising re-emergence of "Dreams" comes more than 40 years after the song initially claimed the top spot on Billboard's Hot 100 in June 1977. The Man and Panic!

The resurgence of "Dreams" comes after fellow Rumours track "The Chain" shot up to No. 7 in the charts last May after it apeared on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soundtrack.

The song surged to No. 14 on the rock charts thanks in large part to a March 22 Twitter post which depicts cheerleaders dancing enthusiastically to the song.

The Hot Rock Songs chart was introduced by Billboard in 2009.
