LeBron James' Future Could Be Tied To Kawhi Leonard

LeBron James' Future Could Be Tied To Kawhi Leonard

"You'll have to ask Kawhi and his group that question", Popovich said, per ESPN. "Bob Mulherin, another fan that Maese spoke to, said, "[Popovich] insulted more than half of the Spurs' fan base, and no sign whatsoever of an apology".

Kawhi Leonard's concluded end of the season hasn't done much to stop the imminent questions of his distance from the organization, reportedly in NY rehabbing his injury instead of with the San Antonio Spurs during this important playoff stretch. Then, we would have to decide what's going on from there.

The thinking around the league was that Leonard would not be coming back this season, and on Monday we got word from Yahoo's Shams Charania that the two-time National Basketball Association defensive player of the year would indeed sit out the rest of the season as he continues his rehabilitation in NY.

The Spurs will have to win game three on Thursday night to stand any chance of turning it around but at this moment, they're in danger of suffering a sweep at the hands of the Bay Area franchise for a second straight season. The Spurs star made "strides" recently in his recovery, but wants to return at "full health" after a team-collaborated rehab program.

And it appears that Leonard's disconnect with head coach Gregg Popovich and the Spurs could have an impact on the free-agent class this summer, namely LeBron James.

It was all fun and games between the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors ahead of Game 1 of their National Basketball Association playoff matchup. Once its season is over, San Antonio likely will have to make a decision about what to do with Leonard.
