Man allegedly fondles woman on American Airlines flight, gets tasered

Video from a passenger, verified by the airline, shows the man asking why he was being removed. Passengers can be seen clapping and cheering as Garcia is escorted through the airport.

A flight attendant moved Garcia to a seat away from the couple but he then "started making louder racial slurs", Ennis said.

A passenger onboard an American Airlines flight leaving Miami for Chicago on Sunday was arrested after he allegedly fought with another passenger before resisting arrest from several police officers.

[The flight crew] began the process of deplaning the entire aircraft.

The airline said in a statement a "disagreement" between two passengers occurred on Flight 2446 as it prepared to leave Miami for Chicago. When he asked why he was being deplaned, one passenger responded, "Well, you just assaulted a lady, for one".

The report states the officer deployed his taser 10 times, "due to Mr. Garcia's actions and the close quarters of the engagement, Officer Desorches was unable to holster his ECW (Electronic Control Weapon) which caused the number of cycles". At point, police say, Garcia was able to reach for and grab an officer's handgun. Miami-Dade police entered the aircraft and the man was zapped with a stun gun when authorities say he "became combative with the officers". He was later taken into custody and placed under arrest, charged with five counts including battery, resisting arrest and depriving an officer of their means of protection. During that process, a physical altercation between the same two passengers took place.

American Airlines said the plane departed about an hour late as a result of the incident. We thank our crews and airport customer service team for their excellent work in this situation.
