Man pleads to reduced charge for killing police officer

A metro police constable has been hailed as a hero after he skillfully caught a baby who was flung off the roof of a shack during a stand-off with police.

Const. Ian Jordan was seriously injured in an on-duty auto collision with another police vehicle on September 22, 1987, according to the Victoria Police Department.

"Is he dead?" she remembers asking.

Retired Sgt. Ole Jorgensen vividly remembers the crash that severely injured his friend and colleague.


The prefectural police are investigating the background of the incident.

Jordan was 35-years-old at the time of the crash. "So it just feels quite different", she said. She said she found some suspicious text messages in the 39- year-old man's phone, and when she asked him about them, she said the man "threw hot coffee" in her face. During October past year, he also received a commendation for being the first and only metro police official to confiscate an illegal firearm in the Motherwell area.

Nojulumba was deployed to the Joe Slovo informal settlement on Thursday for crowd management during a demolition process by the municipality.

The shocking incident occurred during the demolition of illegal structures conducted by Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality. This was done to force the team not to demolish the structure.
