Nerve Agent Used To Poison Sergei Skripal Was Delivered In 'Liquid Form'

April. 15 (ANI): Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed on Saturday that the toxin used to poison former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, was BZ toxin, as confirmed by a Swiss laboratory.

The G7 statement comes after Western nations expelled more than 150 Russian diplomats in a coordinated action against Moscow in support of Britain, and Russia retaliated with similar moves.

Yulia, 33, left hospital earlier this month.

Britain has blamed Russian Federation for the attack which the authorities said was carried out using a nerve agent.

The primary site of contamination was Sergei Skripal's house, but secondary sites include ambulance stations, Zizzi restaurant and the Mill pub, where the Skripals spent time on the day they fell ill.

Lavrov said the Swiss laboratory also identified a high concentration of A-234 agent, known as Novichok.

The bench at the Maltings shopping centre, where the pair collapsed, will be cleaned.

"Meticulous work is required and we expect it will be a number of months before all sites are fully reopened".

Tests confirmed the area of London Road cemetery, which contains the remains of Mr Skripal's dead wife and son, was not contaminated.

Defra's chief scientific adviser, Prof Ian Boyd, the chair of the decontamination science assurance group, said: "Our approach is based on the best scientific evidence and advice to ensure decontamination is carried out in a thorough and careful way".

The foreign ministers of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States, as well as the European Union, said they "are united in condemning, in the strongest possible terms" the attack in Salisbury. Public Health England reaffirmed that the risk to the general public is low.

According to the Russian minister, in the report of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons the term "Novichok" is not mentioned at all.
