New BioShock in Development at 2K Games According to Report

This new report comes courtesy of Jason Schrier from Kotaku. The report says that a top-secret studio located "next door" to Hangar 13 is now in the early stages of work on a brand-new BioShock game. Since then, there have been some re-releases and remasters for current-generation consoles, but nothing substantial in the way of a new game.

The unnamed 2K studio now working on the game has reportedly assembled a small team to do so, pulling developers from both outside 2K and from sister studios like Hangar 13 to work on the project.

A "top-secret" studio is working on the next BioShock game, and it's now being developed under the codename Parkside. "It was all very tight-lipped".

This new BioShock game will not be created by Ken Levine, the man behind the franchise who has founded Ghost Story Games and is working on a new first-person sci-fi game. Not that it's surprising that 2K would return to one of its most visible and valuable series, of course, and it has been five years since BioShock Infinite came out. Maybe this new game is one that fans have been waiting for.

Many think this new title could be a new BioShock or Borderlands entry.

After a round of layoffs at Hangar 13 back in February, many employees moved on or joined the team working on Parkside.

"The issue is that Parkside's not ready for lots of people", said another person involved with goings-on at the company.

"If anyone from Hangar 13 tried to strike up a conversation with them, they'd say, 'Oh, we can't really talk about it, '" a source close to the studio told Kotaku.

For now, 2K hasn't officially announced a new game in the "BioShock" series, nor did the publisher respond to request for comment. "They're careful about not falling into the same problem every studio has, where they have too many people and nothing for them to do".
