PM Modi hopeful of fruitful visit to Sweden and UK

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday accused the Congress of obliterating the work done by B.R. Ambedkar in nation-building and for not considering him for "Bharat Ratna" while he was alive. It is the duty of the government to take care of your rights.

Modi told the gathering that the people behind the violent activities were from outside the state and it was they who were responsible for the deaths of local youths.

He said, Sweden is a valuable partner in India's development initiatives.

"They keep themselves safe in jungles and keep your kids in the front and leave them to die".

"We can't reach new destinations by treading on old paths".

Issuing notices, it said, "We hope and trust that when we are issuing notice, the members of the Bar Associations shall conduct themselves and would not obstruct the smooth functioning of the justice delivery system which includes the presence of the persons aggrieved or accused in court or for that matter the presence of investigating agency and the witnesses".

Before addressing the gathering, Modi presented a pair of slippers to a tribal woman - one of the beneficiaries of "Charan Paduka" scheme. She claimed she had been raped by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and his brother and tried to end her life only after she failed to get justice. "Would you leave your children to such people?"

A rally in support of Modi is also due to take place outside the diaspora event venue on Wednesday.

The government aims to develop these centres by 2022. "After so many years of independence these districts still remain backward", he said.

Pointing out that bamboo had earlier been placed in the category of trees making its cultivation impossible, the Prime Minister said that the relevant law has been amended enabling its cultivation and use.

The Prime Minister in a tweet said that he will call on Her Majesty The Queen, hold talks with UK PM Theresa may and meet leading CEOs to deepen economic relations. These districts, if encouraged, can be turned into models of development.

Under it, Van Vikas Kendras would be established which would ensure better marketing and value addition to minor forest produce to benefit forest dwellers.

India and Sweden are set to sign a security agreement when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Stockholm next week, people familiar with the developments said, a move that will facilitate transfer of technology if Swedish defence major Saab is chosen to build fighter jets here. He mentioned the Ayushman Bharat and Gram Swaraj programmes, saying these will empower the weaker sections.
