Punjab Bar Council (PBC) and other lawyers' organizations on Sunday gave a strike call for Monday to condemn the firing incident outside the residence of Justice Ijazul Hassan, in Model Town.

The chief justice is believed to be personally overseeing the investigations.

Officers of the Special Branch and Forensics Agency will also be part of the team.

Two separate firing incidents of firing were reported outside the residence of Supreme Court Justice Ijazul Ahsan's residence on Sunday, a statement by apex court stated.

Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Senate chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar, All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) chief retired Gen Pervez Musharraf, and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri also condemned the incident.

Rangers and police cordoned off the area and were conducting a search operation.

The personal secretary to Sharif, who visited the Supreme Cout's residence to meet him, was refused a meeting by the SC administration. "The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities at the federal and provincial level to bring the culprits to task at the earliest".

Anwarul Haq, President Lahore Hight Court Bar, has called the incident an attack on Judiciary.

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned firing on the residence of the Supreme Court judge and demanded an independent inquiry into the incident.

He was also part of the three-member bench hearing 17 petitions against the controversial Elections Act 2017.

He was appointed as the monitoring judge to supervise and monitor the implementation of the Panamagate case verdict and oversee the ongoing proceedings by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and accountability courts against the Sharif family members and Ishaq Dar.
