Warriors opens title defense with Spurs rout

Durant is thriving with Steph Curry (knee) on the bench and he should continue to do so as the series moves to San Antonio because the Spurs really don't have anyone who can check him.

They'll probably play better in Game 3 with their home crowd behind them but expecting them to win might be asking too much of them.

If there's anybody in the world that should know when a three-point shot is going to fall it's Stephen Curry, and the Warriors' superstar guard showed off his precognition with a joyous celebration on Monday night.

"It's been a while since we've played well, Green said".

In Game 2, the Warriors spent most of the time fighting for each possession and laboring through each shot.

Curry averaged 26.4 points, 6.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds for the Warriors, who have played without several top players during the season due to injuries. We know how talented we are.

JaVale McGee was the X-factor for the Warriors as they readily dispatched the Spurs from Oracle Arena in Game 1. San Antonio finished the night shooting 40 percent from the field, whilst recording only 19 assists.

"We've got to regroup, feel hurt, upset, kind of desperate", Spurs veteran Manu Ginobili said after Saturday's shellacking. But They somehow caught on to head coach Steve Kerr's insistence that they must have "ball security" to pull out the victory.

Although it's unrealistic to expect Thompson to repeat his efficient performance in Game 2, the Warriors will be deadly if he's able to contribute in a similar way throughout the playoffs. But even with a good second half, a combined 13-for-41 showing from the Trail Blazers' star backcourt simply isn't going to be good enough to win in this - or any - playoff series.

The Spurs were just 2-9 in the first quarter on 3-pointers, but they had an 8-2 advantage over the Warriors in points in the paint. But Thompson answered with a bucket from the corner with 2.3 seconds remaining, making it a six-point game at intermission.

Iggy only had 3 points (a three pointer, of all shots!), but he grabbed 7 rebounds and gave out 4 assists. The West, especially Houston, is licking its chops at the opportunity to potentially battle a weaker Warriors team.

Thompson bombed in five three-pointers and Andre Iguodala added four, helping Golden State outscore San Antonio 45-12 from beyond the arc. Golden State also has 11 straight home-playoff victories, the longest home-winning streak in franchise postseason history. I think a lot of people have tend to forgot what we're capable of.

The reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors are facing off against the San Antonio Spurs in Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs. "[You] can't win in this league in the playoffs unless you defend, and they defended tonight, and we went with our best defensive group".
