Watch Tim Tebow homer on first pitch in Double-A

That was evident tonight, as he homered in his first Double-A at-bat with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (video above).

For the second consecutive year, Tebow opened up the season with a home run.

Tebow plays for the Mets' Double-A affiliate Binghamton Rumble Ponies. He went 1-18 with 11 strikeouts with the big league team during spring training.

On the first pitch of his first at-bat with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (yes, that's the name of the Mets' Class AA affiliate), the former Heisman Trophy victor smashed a three-run home run on Thursday. The former Heisman Trophy victor and National Football League quarterback began his second season of professional baseball by going 1 for 4 as the starting left fielder and seventh hitter in the order.

Overall, Tebow finished his first baseball season hitting.226 with eight home runs and 52 RBIs in 126 minor league games.

He was signed, but never saw regular-season action with the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.
