White House Admits Comey Swung Election to Trump

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Monday that James Comey "swung" the 2016 presidential election, seemingly meaning President Donald Trump wouldn't have beaten Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton without the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director's controversial actions days before the election.

Conway made a similar comment on ABC's "Good Morning America" Monday morning about her not believing Comey could swing the election.

In case you didn't catch the segment, Comey called Trump "morally unfit to be president", and basically called him a pathological liar. I mean, the jokes pretty much write themselves on this one, folks.

Shortly after her lap on the morning shows, Conway told the Daily Beast that she was being "tongue-in-cheek" during her comments on ABC.

Conway suggested that Comey's allegations were disingenuous because he had waited almost a year to take them public, prompting Stephanopoulos to remind her that Comey had in fact told the Senate Judiciary Committee much of the same last year.

"I rolled my eyes and said, 'Really, this guy swung an election?' It was sarcastic", she said. "I don't think so, '" she said.

"I think it's possible".

Huh. So it seems Conway is criticizing Comey for swinging the election for Trump, something that Conway and Trump benefitted from, I guess?

At the time of the October 2016 announcement, Trump repeatedly praised Comey's decision, saying he "did the right thing" by notifying Congress of the investigation's revival, which ultimately turned up no new evidence.

He went on, "I was not his fan, but I'll tell you what, what he did he brought back his reputation".

Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, asked Comey if he had ever "been an anonymous source in news reports about matters relating to the Trump investigation or the Clinton investigation?" or if he had ever "authorized someone else at the FBI to be an anonymous source in news reports about the Trump investigation or the Clinton investigation?"

First, I have no doubt that Trump is very sincerely confounded at Comey's ability to grab the spotlight.
