YouTube Remix likely to replace and kill Google Play Music

YouTube Remix likely to replace and kill Google Play Music

In the end, YouTube Remix is, apparently, under development by the joint forces of the developers behind YouTube and Google Play Music.

Google also hosts YouTube fan fests and has a massive creator ecosystem interacting with the platform unlike Play Music which just piggybacks off YouTube's and Android's popularity. YouTube Remix, as far as the rumors are concerned, is a concerted effort by Google and the YouTube team to launch a service that is more in line with how Spotify and Apple Music utilize their services: with recommendations and customized playlists.

Previous year it was reported that Google has been working on music service named YouTube Remix- a subscription-based music streaming platform, which will be different from YouTube Red and Play Music, the other two music streaming services Google offers. After completing this procedure, Google Play Music will be no longer available for public. Even when the company launched the Google Home Max previous year, it announced a global partnership with Spotify making it the default streaming option for its home devices despite having its own service. Based on information gathered from unnamed sources, it sounds like Google is planning on ending Google Play Music altogether and transitioning existing customers over to YouTube Remix.

Previous reports had suggested that, Google will launch YouTube Remix at the beginning of this year.

In other words, Google to replace the Play Music with a YouTube-like music service which lets you hear the tracks as well as watch them at ease.

"The important thing is combining YouTube Red and Google Play Music, and having one offering", Cohen said at a panel in the new Music Seminar. Nothing will change for users today and well provide plenty of notice before any changes are made. You would get the best of music experience through this whole new YouTube Remix.

The release date has yet to be announced, but Play Music users will all be forced to migrate to Remix by the end of 2018. So for the official release of the YouTube Remix, we have to wait for some time until the next announcement by the giant.
