8-Bit 'Bloodstained' Spin-Off to Come Out in May

One of the stretch goals for the Kickstarter was an 8-bit-style mini-game for consoles and handhelds - a game that was announced today. But it isn't. What is out of nowhere is that it's coming soon.

Koji Igarashi, a Japanese developer who is well-known for his work on the Castlevania series and is now developing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, talked about the upcoming spin-off in an official trailer.

The players will get to take control of one of four characters that can be interchanged at any time during gameplay including the sword-swinging exorcist Zangetsu, the whip-wielding heroine Miriam, the magic-using alchemist Alfred, and Gebel with the ability to turn into a bat and take to the skies.


The game will be released on May 24th 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita, and PC via Steam.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon applies the retro feel experienced in the classic Castlevania games on the NES, featuring low fidelity sprites and world art. We tell you this because Koji Igarashi and Inti Creates announced the upcoming arrival of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, prequel to the original game. Zangetsu is the main character of the game and meets the other three characters during his journey. Your choices in recruiting these adventurers will change the difficulty of the game and also may effect the ending.
