Then, prosecutors said Clara Harris crossed two grassy medians and ran over her husband three more times before she put the vehicle in reverse and backed over his body, leaving the auto parked on top of him.

Before the attack, Harris hired a private investigator to trail her husband of 10 years, whom she suspected of having an affair with one of his former employees.

"I'm glad she's getting out", he said.

Clara Harris, a former Friendswood dentist and mother of twins, walked out of the Crain Unit in Gatesville Friday morning after serving 15 years of a 20-year prison sentence for killing her husband, David Harris. It was in July of 2002 when Harris confronted her husband, David, and his mistress, Gail Bridges, in a hotel lobby.

A Houston jury sentenced Harris to 20 years in prison on what would have been her 11th wedding anniversary.

"Throughout the release process, we could see her in the building", reporter Jeff Eheling of KTRK-TV in Houston told Inside Edition.

Defense attorney George Parnham said he was happy about Harris' release.

She spent her time behind bars translating books into braille.

But Harris must stay away from her husband's family members, including his daughter, Lindsey, who helped prosecutors put away her stepmom.

"There's so many victims to this crime, it's not just David Harris", Bacha added. "A jury spoke, and she's done her time".

"She's bright and she will land on her own two feet", he said, per KHOU.

Harris is confined to Galveston County where she's being monitored with an ankle bracelet. "She has a support system in her community should she choose to live here".
