Del Toro will helm a horror series for Netflix

While he will be writing and directing certain installments, the filmmaker is also set to handpick a collection of writers and directors best-suited to the horror genre.

He might be taking it a little easier on the cinematic directorial front after Oscar success with The Shape Of Water, but don't expect Guillermo del Toro to take that much of a break. I suspect this will be pitched at a slightly older audience, though. The series is Netflix's first horror anthology show and del Toro's first live-action series.

Del Toro is reteaming with J. Miles Dale (producer, The Shape of Water) who, alongside Gary Ungar (Gothika), will also serve as an executive producer.

Netflix has ordered a horror anthology series created by Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro.

Other del Toro movies include Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, Hellboy II, Pacific Rim and Blade II. That show will return for its third and final season May 25.

This sounds like the ideal format for del Toro, who has always tried to use his name to help other burgeoning talents whether it was J.A. Bayona on The Orphanage or Andres Muschietti on Mama.

If you were Guillermo del Toro and you were coming off a Best Picture Oscar and the world was your sexy oyster, what would be the first thing you do? Meanwhile, Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss' new dating competition series The Proposal will debut Monday, June 18 at 10 pm. We can't wait, but it might be a while until we get to see it - the series doesn't have a release date at this time.

It's worth noting that del Toro has a home in Toronto and frequently works on films there.
