Fallen Henderson Officers to be Remembered Monday during Police Week Services

The annual event brings together riders from across the country enroute to the National Police Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. and calls attention to law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. "The memorial ceremony recognizes their sacrifice in service to the community and public safety", the Clark County Sheriff's Office said in a release. His father, William, will be there.

In tribute to American law enforcement officers and at the request of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, Public Law 103-322 designates May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is one of only two days each year during which government agencies, businesses and residents are to fly their US flags at half staff.

He passed away a year ago from injuries suffered in a boat crash while on a search and rescue mission.

He is riding specifically in remembrance of Vermont State Trooper Sergeant Mike Johnson who was killed on the job on Father's Day 2003.

Officer's Memorial Service honors seven officers who died in the line of duty

"Every day on the ride is special", Flore said.

All fallen law enforcement officers from the Hawkins Co. He added that the person riding next to him might not be as lucky to live in a state with few officer deaths.

Recently retired Bridgewater Township Police Sgt. Scott Hobbs was part of the ride, as was Bridgewater Police Officer Kurt Bernhard and others.
