Okala said that he personally saw the provisional list as a good list "with lots of hope in it".

Ebere Amaraizu, a Director in Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO), says the 30-man provisional list of the Super Eagles to the World Cup is "unquestionable".

On the new entrants and players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in the list; Amaraizu said the number of NPFL players showed that the Nigerian leagues had grown.

"I pray he joins other great and wonderful players in the team to make Nigerians proud, " he added.

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has released a 30-man provisional squad for the Russian Federation 2018 World Cup which holds next month.


The Green and White have never made it past the second round of a World Cup tournament but many pundits have tipped Mikel Obi's led side to reach the semi finals.

Gernot Rohr has stuck with the quartet of Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Dele Ajiboye, Daniel Akpeyi and youngster Francis Uzoho in the goalkeeping department.

Chelsea wingback Victor Moses was Nigeria's top scorer in the qualifying campaign with three goals, while Mikel, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon and Kelechi Iheanacho weighed in with two goals apiece.

Defenders: William Troost Ekong, Leon Balogun, Chidera Eze, Chidozie Awaziem, Kenneth Omeruo, Shehu Abdullahi, Tyrone Ebuhehi, Ola Aina, Elderson Echejile, Brian Idowu, Efe Ambrose.

The Midfielders include Mikel Obi (Captain), Joel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, Mikel Agu, Etebo Oghenekaro, John Ogu, Uche Ago and Wilfred Ndidi.
