Medical Passed, Rangers Ready to Complete Signing of Premier League Midfielder

The first piece of transfer news from Ibrox since their recent manager switch-up has seen Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield join Rangers on a four-year deal after his deal at Burnley ran out.

As revealed by Football Insider, Arfield will be paid more than £25,000-a-week, meaning his Rangers deal will cost £5.3million in wages alone.

Arfield said: "As soon as the interest came in, it was something I wanted to go for".

Jimmy Nicholl is set to leave Rangers following the appointment of Steven Gerrard.

The 29-year-old has spent the last five years at Turf Moor, with 22 goals being scored in 193 appearances in all competitions. Especially as the club have made a serious statement of intent by paying what, by their standards, is huge money to secure Arfield's signature ahead of rival club.

"I think it's inevitable we are going to draw them, isn't it?"

"I'm excited to work with Steven Gerrard - if you don't get excited by that you shouldn't walk through the front door. When you go down there, you want to play against the best, and he is one of the top two or three in my generation".

"I am delighted to have added Scott Arfield to the squad for next season", said former Liverpool and England captain Gerrard, who will begin his first job in senior management at Ibrox next season.

"He is a talented and competitive midfielder who has competed at a high level in the English Premier League and internationally for Canada".

'There is much more to be done, ofcourse, as we look to build towards our Europa League campaign which will start inearly July.
