Eke, who said that the unidentified hoodlums attacked the secretariat "just to frustrate the Local Government Areas congress of the party on Saturday", vowed that the exercise must go on.

They were said to have been arrested for criminal conspiracy, forgery, stealing and unlawful possession of electoral materials.

He said that exhibits recovered from them included: 68 APC result sheets, six APC Local Government Area result sheets, 130 APC delegates nomination forms and six LGA APC ward officers and delegates list. "My duty is to report to the police and the police have the duty to investigate", he said.

The suspects are: Ikpamezie Innocent, 39, principal suspect and special adviser on a electoral matters to Senator Hope Uzodinma, Lawrence Archibong, 34, Kelechi Affonne, 27 and Joseph Martins, 28. All suspects will all be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.

The first group to meet with the Vice President was the political stakeholders led by Madumere, which had in attendance, Senators Ifeanyi Ararume, Osita Izunaso and Benjamin Umajumogu, Okorocha's former Commissioner for Information, Theodore Ekechi, among others.


In Ifedore, the lawmaker representing Ifedore/ Idanre federal constituency, Bamidele Baderinwa, said the local government congress was held at the APC secretariat in the local government.

He pledged that leaders of the party will not allow the opposition succeed in their evil game.

The Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha met with the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and other members of the Party's National Working Committee (NWC) where the decision was reached.

The meeting, held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, was on the crisis that trailed Saturday's ward congress in the state.

When contacted, the state party chairman, Hilary Eke, who confirmed the development, accused those who he said attacked the party state office last weekend.

In a statement by his spokesman, Sam Onwuemeodo, the governor said the fire may not be unconnected the frustrations of some of the party men over the disputed ward congress in the state.
