Prince Philip makes first public appearance since hip operation last month

Prince Philip has been seen out and about for the first time since his hip operation - and with one week to go until his grandson's wedding.

Prince Philip also attended the Royal Windsor Horse Show on Friday in his first public appearance in almost a month.

The Duke of Edinburgh was photographed casually dressed and sat at the wheel of his Land Rover Discovery at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

The Duke of Edinburgh has made his first appearance in public since he underwent hip operation last month. As he was discharged from hospital, Buckingham Palace revealed that the operation was successful.

In the slew of royal wedding updates on Friday, May 4, which included the news that Meghan's father Thomas Markle will walk the bride down the aisle, and the newlyweds plan to postpone their honeymoon, a spokesperson for Kensington Palace shared that Prince Philip might not be at the royal wedding. It's thought that Catherine and William made the trip with their baby son to Windsor Castle, to introduce him to both Prince Philip and the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth had a great morning, with her horse winning in the class she watched.

Lady Louise is already an accomplished horsewoman and has previously competed in carriage driving at the event.

It sees competitors taking part in a range of events from show jumping to dressage, along with displays from The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery and DAKS Pony Club.

Arriving shortly afterwards was the Queen's cousin and his wife Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Following his surgery, many were concerned he may not be able to make it to his grandson Prince Harry's royal wedding to Meghan Markle on May 19, but this recent appearance seems to be an encouraging sign that he will be there. The Duke will continue his recovery at Windsor.
