Rage 2 Confirmed by Bethesda

After being prematurely revealed by Walmart Canada (along with a bunch of other unannounced games!) and the announcement trailer prematurely leaking online, the Rage Twitter account jumped into life and confirmed the news. Rage 2 is set in an open-world, a wasteland of varied locations and many factions vying for control of what's left of humanity. The game is being developed by Avalanche Studios, the creators of Mad Max, working with id Software.

Personally, Rage 2 looks good, but the gameplay trailer doesn't really go into specifics all that much.

The first Rage game was not exactly a critical and commercial hit, which was surprising coming from the storied studio behind Doom and the publisher of games like The Elder Scrolls series.

The leaks are over and now Bethesda has started revealing all things RAGE 2. Perhaps Bethesda may use this opportunity to give us a Rage 2 release date as well. Looks like the art style's graduated from "Original Mad Max" to "Mad Max: Fury Road".

No additional information is available for now, but Rage 2 is expected to be available on a number of platforms when it launches, including the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Considering how many great ideas it brought to the table, Rage deserved to get another chance in the spotlight - it was just a few tweaks away from being a huge success. The design of the world was mostly flat and lacked notable landmarks - especially when compared to Just Cause's vertical landscapes - and some of the gameplay loops, particularly dealing with hostile strongholds, grew tiresome. We imagine that's a detail being held back for Bethesda's E3 conference.
