The finalists for the NBA's end of season awards have been announced

The other two finalists are Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James and New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis, both of whom had incredible seasons.

Anthony Davis is also up for defensive player of the year alongside Jazz bigman Rudy Gobert and 76ers centre Joel Embiid.

The finalists were based on voting results from a global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. He was named to the All-Star team in February for the third straight season.

In a season that was anything but normal for the Cavaliers, James elevated his game to an awesome level.

James played all 82 games for the first time and averaged 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game while shooting 54 percent.

At 33, James would be the oldest player to win the award since 35-year-old Karl Malone did so in 1998-99.

"I would vote for me", James said in March.

Ben Simmons has been shortlisted for the NBA's Rookie of the Year award, along with Utah's Donovan Mitchell and Boston sensation Jayson Tatum. But to keep our appetites satiated, the National Basketball Association announced the finalists for each award on Wednesday.

Green is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and he was the runner-up for the award in 2015 and 2016.

The NBA released the list of nominees for its year-end awards, which will be given out on Monday, June 25 in the second annual televised awards show on TNT.
