Xiaomi Redmi S2 To Launch In India On June 7th

JioPhone, paired with Reliance Jio's Rs 49 plan disrupted the market in the January-March quarter, in the feature phone segment, and was followed by Samsung at 10.4%, Transsion at 7.9%, Lava at 6% and Micromax at 4.7%. But Xiaomi doesn't want rest on its laurels and the company is now planning to create an in-house camera department that will exclusively focus on improving image quality, as per an internal mail sent by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun.

The reason this has more than a grain of truth is that Xiaomi clearly has designs on becoming one of the leaders in the global smartphone market, and to do so means having truly world-class technology inside its devices. Now, whether Xiaomi calls the phone Redmi Y2 in India is what we will have to wait and see.

After launching Redmi S2 in China, Xiaomi looks all set to launch the smartphone in India.

The Xiaomi teaser says that the phone will be coming to India on June 7. The phone will provide competition to the company's own Redmi Note 5 which has pretty similar specifications.

Redmi S2 is expected to make its debut on June 7, not as Redmi S2 but as Redmi Y2. A new Eurasian Economic Commission report is said to have surfaced online, hinting at a number of Xiaomi handsets that may launch soon.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 was launched in China on the 10th of May. India price details about the Redmi S2 aren't revealed yet.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 has a 5.99 inch IPS LCD display with a 1440 x 720 px resolution. It packs 3GB or 4GB RAM with 32GB or 64GB internal storage.

The selfie camera of the phone is the biggest highlight. Furthermore, the Redmi S2 features SD card expansion for up to 256GB.

But to start on a positive note, the first quarter of 2018 witnessed strongest ever smartphones and feature phone sales in India, ever.

The Redmi S2 comes with a 12MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and PDAF along with a dedicated 5MP secondary depth sensor.

As stated by the report, JioPhone primarily led the growth of 4G feature phone market in the country which continued to grow at more than 50 percent quarter-on-quarter. For selfies, it comes with a 16 Megapixel front camera with LED flash. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor at the back located at the right side of the camera. Powering the device is a 3080 mAh battery, which will charge via a micro USB port.
