Attorneys for Trump lawyer Cohen to end representation

Cohen's lawyers Stephen Ryan and Todd Harrison of McDermott, Will & Emery LLP, a Washington and NY firm, have been representing Cohen and are facing a Friday deadline to complete a review of documents seized by federal prosecutors in an April raid on Cohen's home and office.

Wednesday morning's top story has undoubtedly been the report from ABC's George Stephanopoulos that Michael Cohen - President Donald Trump's lawyer - is parting ways with his attorneys and is on the verge of cooperating with Federal authorities.

The seizure of those documents led Trump to declare "Attorney-Client privilege is dead!"

The firm's spokesperson did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Cohen's move to switch lawyers is being interpreted by some legal observers as a sign he may be seeking to cooperate with federal prosecutors.

The AP reports federal prosecutors in NY have publicly said they are investigating alleged fraud in Cohen's business dealings, but haven't disclosed details.

Those lawyers are "not expected to represent him going forward", ABC News first reported.

When agents searched Cohen's home, office and safety deposit box and seized his phones this spring, they sought a wide variety of information, including his involvement in arranging a secret $130,000 payment to the porn actress Stormy Daniels, who said she had a sexual tryst with Trump years ago.

Cohen sued April 13 to try to block prosecutors from looking at communications protected by attorney-client privilege.

Michael Cohen, U.S. President Donald Trump's longtime fixer and attorney, arrives to a court hearing in Manhattan in April.

Trump has repeatedly said there was no collusion, and Russian Federation has denied interference.
