China suggests sanctions relief for N Korea after USA summit

Geng Shuang, China's foreign ministry spokesman, said the penalties imposed by the Security Council should be adjusted if the regime abides by United Nations resolutions and makes progress in diplomatic negotiations, the Associated Press reported.

I just think that we are now we are going to start the process of denuclearization of North Korea, and I believe that he's going back and will start it virtually immediately, and he's already indicated that and you look at what he's done.

"They've got a long history of double dealing", Hoffman said.

The commentary came after Trump and Kim signed an agreement earlier Tuesday committing the unspecified "security guarantees" in exchange for an eventual denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. "Previous agreements have committed North Korea to allowing [International Atomic Energy Agency] inspectors back into the country, to adhering to worldwide arms control treaties, and so forth". "The ready, willing, and able, but hopefully, this will not be necessary". He taunted Mr. Kim as "little rocket man", and warned that the USA would "totally destroy" North Korea.

It futher sees the USA and North Korea agree to "establish new relations", and 'join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula'.

Did Trump end military exercises with South Korea?

"The new element is that we agreed to stop our annual exercise cycle with our South Korean allies". Trump attributed the move as a cost-saving measure.

If we've learned anything during President Trump's time in the Oval Office, it's that he loves Twitter.

"We've developed a very special bond", he added, referring to Kim.

Trump said the so-called "military games" would restart if the Kim regime begins acting in bad faith. Trump praised what had been achieved at the summit calling it a "new chapter" in relations with the North. His parents are good friends of mine. "I think nobody can doubt the extremely unique and important role China has played".

The final point on the document calls for North Korea to work with the USA in helping them recover the remains of prisoners of war and those missing in action - including immediately repatriating any bodies which have already been identified.
