‘First Man’ Trailer: ‘La La Land’ Director Takes Ryan Gosling to Space

The 37-year-old actor stars in the upcoming Neil Armstrong movie First Man and he debuted the first trailer for the film on the show.

So far, the Best Picture race appears to be MAJOR SLIM PICKENS so First Man will be like that first hunk of meat thrown to starving lions. But it will not be a smooth ride. There, Chazelle noted how happy he was that the journey to the moon had never been adapted for film before so he could take on the monumental task himself.

The two-minute trailer shows Gosling's Armstrong grappling with the complexities of executing "one of the most risky missions in history" and the mission's personal impact on his anxious wife, played by Claire Foy, and their young sons. Tension rises. But in the last few seconds of the 2.35-minute-long trailer, the calm breathing in space relaxes the viewers.

They even get to see George Clooney floating by in space.

Armstrong was a World War II vet who later became a test pilot.

Apart from the aforementioned cast, Kyle Chandler, Corey Stoll, Pablo Schreiber, Ciaran Hinds, Lukas Haas, Jason Clarke, and Christopher Abbott are on the roster.

Starring Ryan Gosling as Armstrong and Claire Foy (The Crown) as his wife Janet Shearon, First Man tells the story of NASA's mission to put a man on the moon.

Based on James R. Hansen's 2005 book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong, the film chronicles the life of the American astronaut and his journey towards becoming the first man to land on the moon.
