Israel orders PA to pay $1.4m in damages for Gaza kites

Israel's Channel 2 News said the flying fire bombs have destroyed some 1,000 acres and disrupted daily life in communities near the Gaza Strip.

A second Palestinian who was with the man fled after they damaged Israel's security fence, a military spokesman said.

The Israeli military said on Saturday it was investigating the apparent killing by its troops of a Palestinian nurse on Friday during protests along the Gaza border.

The military said they had damaged the fence and were carrying an axe.

The army circulated a picture of what it said was the ax lying on the ground near the border.

More than 120 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since May March 30, the start of the border "Great March of Return" non-violent protests.

The latest death brings the number of Palestinians killed since then to 125.


On Friday, a 21-year-old volunteer paramedic was shot as she tried to help evacuate wounded protesters near Israel's perimeter fence with Gaza.

The Palestinian government on Monday has warned Israel against plans to deduct funds from the Palestinian tax revenues to compensate Israelis living near the Gaza Strip for a wave of arson attacks.

Some 17 people had sailed off the coast of Gaza with the intention of reaching Cyprus, before Israel forces intercepted the boat and transferred it to the Israeli port of Ashdod.

Israel, which has drawn worldwide condemnation for its use of deadly force, says many of those killed were Hamas members and militants trying to launch attacks under cover of the protests. Two-thirds of the two million Palestinians in Gaza are war refugees or their descendants.

United Nations officials on Saturday condemned the killing of medical volunteers on the Gaza border, saying that witness reports indicated she was wearing clothes that clearly identified her as a medical officer.
