Man takes a knee during anthem at White House event

Those players were kneeling in prayer.not a single Philadelphia player took a knee during the regular season a year ago, but this is a huge story.the Fox network is against prayer in public.

"The Philadelphia Eagles Football Team was invited to the White House", President Trump tweeted late Monday evening. "We have sacrificed more for that Constitution than most people".

The White House held an alternate ceremony without the Eagles, which focused on patriotism rather than the Super Bowl winners. Safety Malcolm Jenkins raised his fist as the anthem played, while other players stood arm-in-arm or with their arm around Butler in solidarity. Public address announcements have changed from a simple request to stand for the playing of the song to elaborate admonitions for spectators to stand up.

In his reasoning for canceling the Eagles visit, Trump said that the team disagrees "with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem".

Mr. Trump said the team wanted to send a "smaller delegation" of players but fans attending the event "deserve better". Star basketball players LeBron James, of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Stephen Curry, of the Golden State Warriors, said they agreed that whichever team wins the NBA championship would skip the traditional visit to the White House. "I think I read something that some guys are going, some weren't". previously reported fewer than 10 Eagles planned to attend the event. I can't say enough good things about what our fans have done for us.

"I had the idea a long time ago, particularly since I thought the Eagles and sports teams like that should be doing a kind of victory lap", Courtright said. "I will be there at 3:00 p.m. with the United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus to celebrate America".

President Trump loves the national anthem so much he simply doesn't have room in his head for "God Bless America", okay?!

Several staffers had been involved in planning the celebration, including White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, an Eagles fan.

The league is facing labor grievances from Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid, both of whom claim they have been blacklisted due to their decisions to kneel during the anthem in protest of social injustice.
