Manchester United make decision on Anthony Martial transfer after agent comments

"After thinking about all the possibilities and scenarios, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United", declared Lamboley.

Martial's agent, Philippe Lamboley, is not convinced the Red Devils are committed to making the France worldwide a major figure at the club.

Martial, 22, looked set to become the next superstar at Old Trafford they forked out £58m on his services from AS Monaco as a teenage prodigy in 2015. Being left out of the France squad for the 2018 World Cup would have hurt him, and will surely be in his mind as the speculation gathers pace.

Martial, who has previously been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, has been placed on the transfer market by his agent, Philippe Lamboley. Without the unconditional support of the fans, Anthony would have already asked to leave United.

"Manchester United wants to extend Anthony and does not want him to leave but we haven't found agreement for several months".

The France striker's agent revealed that the player has chose to quit the club, while at the same time emphasising that the player was still under contract so agreement will need to be reached with United. For now, it's premature to talk about it. Anthony will speak later to explain all of this.

"It is a well-considered decision", he said.

"We simply don't share their view of Anthony's future".

Lamboley said Martial was "disappointed because he has shown his love for the club and the supporters for three seasons".

"But he got hooked and showed great professionalism and was successful".

It would be fair to say that Martial's move to England in the final stages of the summer transfer window caught many by surprise. It is important to remember that this season he scored 11 goals and gave 10 assists in five months. He was elected three times players of the month by the fans.

But Martial's agent remains tight-lipped about his future. He will not turn 23 until the latter stages of this year, and as a result, is still very much learning the game. I think he must resume the natural progress of his career elsewhere.
