Melania Trump To Child Detainees: 'Good Luck'

The images of Melania Trump sporting the olive green khaki jacket as she boarded a flight to Texas - which immediately went viral - surfaced as the White House struggles to calm worldwide anger over the practice of splitting migrant children from their parents.

Update, 5:20 PM: Trump continued to wear the jacket on her flight back to DC on Thursday afternoon.

Her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, told reporters that the trip was "her decision" and that she told the president she was going before he signed an executive order stopping the separation of migrant kids from their families who cross the border illegally. "It's a jacket. There was no hidden message", she said of the olive-colored item, which is already sold out.

"'I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?' written on the back of Melania's jacket, refers to the Fake News Media".

Grisham said any questions about her choice of jacket (it was raining heavily in McAllen when she arrived) are as inconsequential as the criticism on social media past year about the towering heels Trump wore to get on Air Force One when she traveled to Texas to see recovery efforts after Hurricane Harvey. She didn't wear it while visiting refugees. 2. The official refused to be identified discussing Trump's private conversations with his wife.

The last-minute trip to Texas marks the first public action by Mrs. Trump since she announced in May an initiative named "Be Best" to focus on the overall well-being of children and help teach them kindness.

It was Trump's idea to go to the border to see firsthand how migrant children are being treated, her husband said.

Melania Trump was on her way to visit the detained children and families at the U.S. -Mexico border.

But Trump's fashion has often played a leading role during her tenure as first lady.

The other thing we have to kind of discuss here, is the fact that Melania's a former model. Though the bargain price tag should've been the talk of the day - it's only $39 - it was the context of her appearance that courted emotionally-charged reactions on Twitter from those who oppose separating children from their parents.

Facing huge local and worldwide pressure, Mr Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday to stop the separations and keep families together during immigration proceedings.

This Republican, who is supportive of Trump, but skeptical of some of what they consider to be the administration's ham-handedness, says there was an urgent meeting among communications staff about how to fix this after it was becoming a story.
