Michigan Basketball Coach John Beilein Receives Contract Extension

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN also confirmed that Dwane Casey met with the Pistons on Tuesday, and that Beilein was indeed pulling his name out of consideration.

The 65-year-old Beilein has coached at MI for 11 seasons with a 248-143 record. And he has no intention of leaving Ann Arbor before retiring.

Casey is owed $6.5 million for the final year of his contract in Toronto, where he was sacked after a franchise-record 59-win regular season and a second-round playoff sweep to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

John Beilein is staying in Ann Arbor and will be coaching the Michigan Wolverines "next season and in the years to come".

Beilein has had great success with the Wolverines, playing for the national title, securing two Big Ten Championships and is the all-time winningest coach at U of M at 248-143. "But I would like. the Pistons (to) consider bringing in Isiah Thomas as their president of basketball operations". His current contract runs through the 2020-21 season, paying him $3.37 million annually, with a new extension expected in the coming days. On Wednesday morning, Beilein took to Twitter and said he loves the University of MI. We made it a priority to sit down shortly after our tremendous run in the Final Four to discuss and solidify his future at MI.
