One dead and four injured after gunman opens fire in Malmo

The police said terrorism has been ruled out.

Five people were shot in the city of Malmo in Sweden.

The police refused to comment on the identity of the possible attacker or attackers, who they said fired the shots from a auto or a fixed location.

Witnesses told local media that they heard 15 to 20 shots at around 18:15 in the centre of the city. Investigators suggest that automatic weapons were used, and are searching for a dark auto that was seen leaving the scene at high speed, Aftonbladet reports.

Police have urged the public to remain calm.

The man reportedly fired an automatic weapon at the crowd, who were celebrating Sweden's 1-0 victory against Korea, this evening.

Suburban feuds between criminal gangs fighting over territory have taken place in major Swedish cities in recent years.

The injured were taken to hospital following the attack and their condition remains unknown.

Police are now investigating the attack.
