Pep Guardiola: 'I will never manage Barcelona again'

Pep Guardiola: 'I will never manage Barcelona again'

In the interview with France Football, Toure said Guardiola "has often had problems with Africans wherever he has been" and suggested the City boss is "jealous" of him.

Pep Guardiola has hit back at Yaya Toure, calling accusations made by the midfielder that he is racist "a lie".

Guardiola won 14 trophies in four seasons with the Blaugrana, including a famous clean sweep in 2009 when Barca won all six trophies available to them. "We were together for two years, and he says it now-he never told me to my face".

Speaking to TV3, Guardiola said: "It's a lie and he knows it".

We're not quite sure why Toure made those comments but given the reaction from his former teammates and Guardiola himself, it seems they made more out of spite than any sort of evidence.

Guardiola has since spoken out, vehemently denying Toure's claims. I don't know why but I have the impression that he was jealous, he took me for a rival.

Similar success followed at Bayern Munich before the 47-year-old guided Manchester City to Premier League and EFL Cup glory this term.

The Ivorian lasted two years at Barcelona under Guardiola's managerial tutelage during his Camp Nou reign.

'But when you realise that he has problems with Africans, wherever he goes, I ask myself questions. He'll never admit it (not liking Africans). It was a generation of brutal players and the best player in the world (Lionel Messi).

"As a coach (of Barcelona), it's over".

Toure left City in May at the expiration of his contract after eight seasons at the club.
