Pool Line-Ups Revealed For 2018/19 European Cup Competitions

It will be the first time they will have come up against Racing 92. The Welsh region faced last season's beaten finalists Racing in the 2013/14 season losing both fixtures but did record a notable victory in Paris in the 2012/13 season.

Ulster, who qualified for the 2018-19 tournament with a play-off win over Ospreys in May, have been dropped into a tough pool with Champions Cup finalists Racing 92 and Pro 14 finalists Scarlets, with two-time winners Leicester Tigers completing the quartet.

Newcastle - back in European rugby's top-flight competition after a 14-year absence - face Montpellier, Toulon and Edinburgh. "We will be looking to improve our performances in the opening rounds, look to build on last season's success and ensure that we remain competitive in both domestic and European competitions".

English Premiership winners Saracens are in Pool Three, alongside Challenge Cup champions Cardiff Blues, Glasgow Warriors and Lyon.

The competition has been renamed from the European Champions Cup, having previously been known as the Heineken Cup from 1995 to 2014.

Between the four sides in the pool, they have 11 titles between them, setting up perfectly for a titanic battle to progress next summer.

The road to Newcastle, the host city for the 2018/19 Champions Cup and Challenge Cup finals, begins in mid-October - - the fixture dates, kick-off times and venues will be confirmed in due course. The quarter-finals are set for 29/30/31 March 2019, with the semi-finals scheduled on 19/20/21 April 2019.
