Reese Witherspoon confirms 'Legally Blonde 3'

All this week we've had butterflies - and it's thanks to the recent reports that MGM is moving forward with Legally Blonde 3.

Days after news broke that Reese Witherspoon would once again inhabit her iconic character Elle Woods in a third Legally Blonde movie, the actress confirmed the rumors on Instagram Friday with a very Elle-inspired post.

In 2015, Witherspoon told ET that she'd spoken with the films' screenwriters about a third installment. In the clip, Elle is wearing a pink bikini on a pool float, just like she was in the video essay she sent in with her Harvard Law School application.

It's been almost two decades since Legally Blonde hit theaters.

No details about the plot of Legally Blonde 3 have been revealed yet.

The "Legally Blonde" franchise followed a perpetually positive Woods as she pursued a law degree at Harvard University and then later a career in politics.

Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith and Karen McCullah, who adapted the Amanda Brown novel for the 2001 first film, are in final talks to pen the script.

The film spawned a sequel, "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde", in which Elle takes a job on Capitol Hill - and which ends with a joke about Elle's presidential ambitions.

It also starred Luke Wilson and Selma Blair but it is not known if they will join Witherspoon. This will be the best Valentine's Day ever.
