Sons of Anarchy actor Alan O'Neill dead at 47


O'Neill is widely known for his role in the sixth and seventh seasons of Kurt Sutter's hit FX series, but the actor's career dates back to the 90s.

He then moved to Hollywood and won a legion of fans when he played Hugh in the cult TV show Sons of Anarchy.

The actor was found dead on Wednesday night (June 6) in the hallway of his girlfriend's apartment, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

The publication also claimed the Sons of Anarchy star suffered from heart problems and was a heavy smoker. No foul play is suspected. He later moved on to small screen roles like Inspector George Gently in the Irish series Fair City from 1989 to 1994. He starred in seven episodes on "Sons of Anarchy" spanning from 2013 to 2014.


Added Kristen Renton, who portrayed Ima Tite on the series, "RIP sir..." Alan O'Neill battled many demons in his life.

She wrote: "One of the first films I did & a privilege to act across from @AlanONeill19". "My thoughts are with his partner, children, family and friends at this time".

Seamus Power, who plays Dermot in the RTE soap, Tweeted: "So sad to hear of the passing of Alan O'Neill who played Keith in Fair City. May he rest in peace".
